  1. I think that it's important to give writing a body within which it may stand. This is to say that writing captures the essence of the author's purpose, but it is the conjuring of the physical aspects of these ideas and images (the voice speaking the words, the place in which these words are being spoken, etc.) which gives the material form. Often times it is left up to the reader to produce the mode by which the writing is received and embodied within the individual reader's mind. However, if there is a particular point to be made by the writing, perhaps sometimes it is more effective to give a body to the writing before your audience does. Otherwise, your audience will conjure a voice in their individual minds, and they will create the rhelm in which the discourse, the story, etc. takes place.
